Ophthalmology
Marsha K Penn, M.D. became associated with Bluegrass Eyecare in 1989. She relocated after spending five years in a busy group practice in central Kentucky performing General Medical and Surgical Ophthalmology.
Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Penn received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Oklahoma graduating Magna Cum Laude. She graduated from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, OK and completed an Internship in general surgery at University of Oklahoma Affiliated Hospitals in Tulsa, OK. Her ophthalmology residency training followed at Vanderbilt University where she served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology her final year.
Currently, Dr. Penn continues her work in General Ophthalmology. Dr. Penn is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also an active member of the Lexington Academy of Eye Physician and Surgeons, Lexington Medical Society, KY Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Penn enjoys providing ophthalmic care and education to her patients of all ages starting as young as four years and older. Comprehensive eye examinations for medical diseases of the eye, including glaucoma , diabetes, and macular degeneration, as well as minor office surgery and laser procedures are offered. Routine examinations for glasses and contact lenses are also provided.
